Hickory Flat ES Kindergarten Classes Learn About Community Helpers

Hickory Flat Elementary School hosted a Community Helpers Day for kindergarten classes Wednesday morning, inviting seven different speakers to share about their jobs with the students. Speakers were Vernard Martin (U.S. Army), Andrew Ruszkowski (firefighter), Daniel Richards (construction project manager), Kate Wiger (nurse), Jonathan Rosenfeld (medical physicist), Patty Garcia (CCSD School Police) and CCSD Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis, who talked to students about teachers as community helpers and how a Superintendent works each day to help students get the best education possible! The kindergartners, many dressed as their favorite community helper, rotated among the seven stations and had opportunities to ask questions. Dr. Davis found several students who hope to be teachers one day -- maybe right here in CCSD! #ElevateTheExcellence
