CCSD Students Earn Top Honors at State Science Olympiad

Four Cherokee County School District students earned first-place honors at the statewide Science Olympiad!

CCSD’s district first-place overall winning team, Ball Ground ES STEM Academy, and five other CCSD teams, Avery ES, Bascomb ES, Carmel ES, Hickory Flat ES, and Holly Springs ES STEM Academy, advanced to the state event.

Four students earned first-place state honors: Anika Renner and Gahan Rela Muni of Avery ES for Egg Drop; and Charvik Sirivella and Shri Sanevelly of Hickory Flat ES for Data Crunchers.  The Avery ES team is coached by teachers Lyndsey Reed and Miranda Satterfield; the Hickory Flat ES team is coached by teachers Heather Amos and Michelle Kozak.

Students also earned second- and third-place honors: 

Second place, Shri Sanevelly and Poorvi Vernekar of Hickory Flat ES, Starry Starry Night;

Third place, Luke Lafountain and Charvik Sirivella of Hickory Flat ES, Weather or Not; and,

Third place, Sebastian Kasarhis and Aiden Olive of Carmel ES, Data Crunchers.
