CCSD Elementary Students Succeed at State Science Olympiad

Cherokee County School District students earned numerous honors at the statewide Science Olympiad including first-place wins!

Top teams from the district competition -- first place, Carmel Elementary School; second place, Avery ES; and third place, Bascomb ES – and students from Hickory Flat ES, Liberty ES and Woodstock ES, advanced to the state competition held this month at Kennesaw State University to test their knowledge and skill in STEM challenges.  Sixty-four teams from schools across the state competed, with Avery ES placing ninth overall and winning two first-place honors!  Cobb Electric Membership Corporation and Gas South sponsor CCSD’s competition.  Congratulations to our state award-winning students and coaches!  Our School Board is laser focused on ensuring our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else.
