CCSD Congratulates 2024 Minecraft Build Challenge Winners

The Cherokee County School District congratulates the winners of its sixth annual Minecraft Student Build Challenge!
 
The contest, presented by the Office of Technology & Information Services, gives students across the district the opportunity to demonstrate their technology skills and creativity.  This year’s challenge was to use Minecraft Education to build a historical moment in time. 
 
One hundred designs were entered, and winners were named in four categories: kindergarten to grade 2 and grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

Congratulations to the overall winners:

Kindergarten to Grade 2
First Place: Hollis Sobolewski, Ball Ground ES STEM Academy for “Signing of the Declaration of Independence”
Second Place: Owen Palmer, Sixes ES for “The Titanic”
Third Place: Brooks Cavaretta, Sixes ES for “The Titanic”

Grades 3-5
First Place: Everett Hutchins, Sixes ES for “Iwo Jima”
Second Place: Ava Byrne and Addyson Trapani, Hickory Flat ES for “The Underground Railroad”
Third Place: Levi Palmer, Sixes ES for “The Alamo”

Grades 6-8
First Place: Sarah Osorio and Genevieve McKinley, Woodstock MS for “Apartheid”
Second Place: Riley Haley and Georgia McGinnis, Woodstock MS for “9/11”
Third Place: Jackson Anderson and Christian Clark, Woodstock MS for “9/11”

Grades 9-12
First Place: Jacob Spilker, Woodstock HS for “The Mayflower”
Second Place: Andrew Burmeister, Woodstock HS for “Parthenon”
Third Place: Kelly McKenna, Sequoyah HS for “Explorer 1”
